Leading planning, design and architectural firm, CWPA Planning & Architecture welcomes the formal adoption of Fingal County Council’s County Development Plan spanning 2023-2029.
The Plan, which is the framework for the future development of Fingal sets out key strategic objectives towards creating a more sustainable county, providing urban communities, stimulating economic activity, positioning the region as a great place to work and live.
Welcoming the adoption of the Plan, Joe Corr, CWPA Managing Director Planning said: “Fingal’s newly adopted County Development Plan envisages the region as an integrated network of vibrant socially and economically successful urban settlements and rural communities, strategic greenbelts and open countryside, supporting and contributing to the economic development of the County and the wider Dublin City area.
We are delighted to see the Plan has introduced a significant number of progressive Policies and Objectives including, but not limited to, those relating to Climate Action, the protection and enhancement of the County’s Green Infrastructure and Natural Heritage and the preservation of Archaeological and Built Heritage throughout the county.”
Fran Whelan, CWPA Managing Director Architecture said: “We are happy to see that many Local Objectives have been introduced including the preparation of a Conservation Plan for Ardgillan Castle and Demesne, the provision of a high-quality public realm project at Donabate Beach on lands immediately south of the Shoreline Hotel and the prioritisation of the ‘Broadmeadow Way’ between Malahide and Donabate.
The delivery of sustainable communities with a variety of housing types and tenure options together with supporting social and community infrastructure is a key strategic objective of the new Plan and we look forward to working with Fingal County Council on our future proposals and making a positive contribution to the future development of Fingal.”
County Development Plans follow a stringent path, taking up to two years to complete following a lengthy consultation period with significant inputs from residents and local community groups, businesses and other interested parties in the region. The process allows for a period of detailed analysis by local County Councillors, whereby amendments proposed are accepted or rejected before they take a final adoption vote.
