CWPA Supports ‘Legend on the Bench’ Suicide Prevention Initiative in Skerries

Apr 16, 2026

CWPA is proud to support the Legend on the Bench suicide prevention initiative — a powerful project dedicated to raising awareness of mental health and ensuring that those who may be struggling know that support is always available.

The initiative was officially unveiled at Skerries Memorial Park, North Dublin, on Saturday, 11 April, by former Republic of Ireland and Tottenham Hotspur legend Chris Hughton. The event was attended by the Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. Tom O’Leary, alongside CWPA senior executives Joe Corr, Stephen Peppard as well as community representatives and supporters of the initiative.

CWPA was honoured to sponsor the installation of the bench, with Fingal County Council facilitating its location within the park, ensuring it is accessible to the local community.

Legend on the Bench is a non-profit initiative founded by former Tottenham Hotspur player Micky Hazard and his sister Michelle, following the tragic loss of Michelle’s son, Jason Lee Mead. The project places handcrafted wooden benches in community settings, providing a quiet space for reflection while also offering a direct link to support services.

Each bench features a QR code that can be scanned to access a range of mental health supports — including helplines, websites and email contacts — alongside the simple but powerful message: “Someone is always listening.”

The installation in Skerries was made possible through the generosity of the Dublin Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Club, whose commitment to community wellbeing has brought this important initiative to Ireland.

CWPA is proud to play a small part in supporting an initiative that promotes connection, compassion and awareness — values that are central to building stronger, more resilient communities.
